Morrissey unable to reschedule US shows

Morrissey has been unsuccessful in attempts to reschedule shows in several US cities following recent cancellations.

The former Smiths frontman was forced to cancel shows in a number of east coast locations over the past few weeks due to a viral throat infection.

He has managed to play rescheduled shows in Boston and Norfolk, and will hit Philadelphia (July 23) and Atlantic City (24) but other affected cities will not be re-visited this time around.

Shows at New York's Madison Square Garden, Holmdel, NJ, Northampton, MA, New Jersey's PNC Bank Arts Center and Baltimore, MD are not available for the singer to play on this outing, and it is expected that another US leg will be added to the tour in the fall, in order to cover the cities.

Morrissey will this week play shows in Knoxville,TN, Clearwater, FL, Boca Raton, FL and Orlando, FL.
Red Hot Chili Peppers close Carling Weekend: Leeds Festival

Red Hot Chili Peppers closed the Carling Weekend: Leeds Festival tonight (August 26) with a triumphant show on the Main Stage.

The LA rockers ended the three day bash with a hit packed set laced with tracks from their 2006 album 'Stadium Arcadium', 2002 LP 'By The Way' and 1999 album 'Californication'.

Unlike their Reading set which was dogged by sound problems, tonight the Chilis' headlining show went off without a hitch with the band performing a tight set throughout.

The performance wrapped up an 18 month trek across the globe which guitarist John Frusciante acknowledged as the band arrived onstage when he declared: "We have been on tour for a year and a half and this is our last show. We just want to thank our crew past and present."

The band then launched into an extended intro to 'Can't Stop' before the crowd sang in full voice once the track kicked in.

The Chilis mixed up their set from Reading, which was watched by Eagles Of Death Metal singer Jessie Hughes, throwing in fan favourite 'Other Side', 'Charlie', 'Throw Away Your Television', 'Get On Top', 'So Much I Wish' and 'C'Mon Girl'.

Towards the end of the show bassist Flea told the crowd: "Thank you for waiting around to see us. I know there was lot of music over the last three days so thanks for coming. All we have ever wanted to do is warm your hearts."

With the Chilis wrapping up proceedings with classic hit 'Give It Away', singer Anthony Kiedis also drew reference to the end of their world tour.

"Thank you it has been a hell of a run," he said. "We came here to give a little love and get some back too. Goodnight."
